Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Baby Update.

Reilly is much happier since the changes were made to her ventilation. She is still intubated but seems much more comfortable and her oxygen requirements have come down to 40 percent. She has been stable enough this week for us to hold her! On the old ventilator, she was very sensitive and hated being touched. She is more relaxed now, sleeping, growing and even smiling! She is so bloody cute. Her little cheeks are getting chubby and she is looking more and more like Chase. We just cant get enough.

Chase did amazing and lasted on the biphasic for 5 days before having to be reintubated Tuesday. They were worried that he was tiring out and that his lungs needed more pressure than that system could give, so he got his tube back. We are trying not to think of it as a step backwards and just focus on how well he did. We are hoping that he only needs the tube back for a short period of time because he absolutely hates it. He is always sneaking his arms out of his blanket in an attempt to pull the tube. You'd hate a tube in your nose too, wouldnt you? Not only that but he is starving! He hasn't ate anything by mouth since December 26th. They tried to start his feed again today but he hasnt been able to tolerate anything yet. He has had a rough couple weeks since his surgery and we hope that over the next few days he will get some much needed rest.

Chase is currently weighing in at 1740g or 3lb 13oz and Reilly is 1140g or 2lb 8oz ! Chase is quite puffy so we think his weight is a bit high but Reilly is looking great and tolerating her feeds so we hope she keeps every gram!

Here are a few photos from the last few days:
