We are definitely due for an update! So much to share! The babies are doing so great, although they are hardly looking like babies anymore! Growing like weeds. Since we last posted, they have been busy finding their voices, giggling, eating a wider variety of solid foods, sitting (just yesterday- yay chase!), and constantly finding new ways to make us laugh and drive us crazy! We posted a month ago, and in that month Reilly has graduated to her own room upstairs and is no longer living in our living room! Yay! Her very own room. She is still on oxygen- we don't think that will change any time soon- but today is day 15 of all bottles! She has not needed to be fed by tube for over two weeks. I didn't know when I'd be able to say those words. It is still an adjustment period so we have to watch her weight and growth but she started to sleep more at night and then eat more orally during the day- taking enough that the tube feeds overnight were unnecessary. How amazing is that? No one can believe it. She truly is a little miracle. She seems much happier too- her feeds don't take as long and she hasn't been throwing up at all (knock on wood) so life for us all has been feel much more normal. This gives her more time to play and develop naturally rather than being stuck on the couch or in her crib. We are slowly adopting a schedule and finding lots of play time and times for walks and it is actually feeling normal! A new normal. She still is fed once during the night ( midnight and six am, for example) but no one is complaining about 6 hours- not us anyways. We rescheduled the night nurses to come during the day, which is very helpful because they do get fussy and so require lots during the day- just like any other babies. It still feels almost impossoble to handle them both on my own, and sometimes we are even begging for a third set of hands but we are so happy with how well they are doing- would have never imagined this much progress this soon. You know how people will always tell you there is light at the end of the tunnel but you don't really believe it til you see it? Well. We've been seeing it--and now we feel like we've reached it. They are still a ton of work- but just like any other baby. And it is so nice to finally say they are like "any other baby". Bonus- they get cuter every day. They are almost 7 months corrected and are 10 months since birth. It's crazy to think that this time last year I was just about to be put on bed rest. Lets hope that is the craziest ten months I'll ever have to live through! Here are some new photos-more to come soon!
