We always start our blogs apologizing for the time since our lat post- but with two crazy babies at home, I feel like we have a legitimate excuse this time :) life at home is great! Most of the time. Ha! The first couple weeks were crazy. We were definitely second guessing our decision in bringing her home rather than waiting for a bed at grand river. As well prepared as we thought we were, we didn't realize what exactly we had gotten ourself into. Reilly definitely had an adjustment period and we felt like she almost took a few step backwards in terms of tolerating her feeds for the first two weeks, but at the same time she seemed to almost come alive! Started smiling and giggling and really recognizing people. She started to love play time on the floor and walks in the stroller. It definitely did her good to bring her home. Her feeds have slowly improved and we have all seemed to adjust and are finally on the groove of things. We've been blessed with a nurse for Reilly, four nights a week from 12am-6am which allows us to catch up on some sleep. She goes for her gtube tomorrow at sick kids back in toronto and we are hoping that will make things even better for her. The gtube will place her feeding tube into her stomach through her belly, instead of through her nose. This is supposed to help bc it means one less thing on her face (that she hates) and will hopefully mean less throwing up. The procedure itself isn't all that scary, but they have to intubated her and that's what we are most worried for. They estimate we will be in TO for 5-7 days, back at Ronald McDonald with chaser. Otherwise the babes are doing well! They are growing! Chase is just over 14 lbs and Reilly is 16lb! They are he best dressed babies ever thanks to all the wonderful cousins, aunties, friends and family who continue to shower them with breathtakingly cute outfits. We are blessed with good help- and would be lost without it. Chase just had his developmental assessment and is perfectly on track for a normal full term baby his age. Yay! We are so proud of him. He is such a little boy- kicks and squeals and plays and laughs for what feels like 23 hours a day. Reilly will get there- she is so special- loves her bath and is learning how to "coo"- even tries to do so with chase! We are so overwhelmed by how amazing they are and how far they've come. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Xoxo photos soon to follow!
